In Shinto teachings, the Mitama represent the four aspects of the human spirit. Nigimitama represents gentleness and serenity and is the source of trust, calmness, and other related emotions. It is said to be the more composed and rational side of the dualistic nature of the spirit.

In Nocturne they can be fused with a demon to boost Magic, Luck and learn some boost skills.
In the Digital Devil Saga series you do a field hunt, running around in an area attacking weaker demons until they appear. When defeated, they leave a large amount of AP.
