According to Sri Lanken mythology, the Yakka is a demon of sickness that has the power to afflict people with disease or insanity just by gazing at them. It can take on many different forms, but its true form is that of a small and very ugly demon. It is believed that the Yakka originally derived from the Hindu demon, the Yaksha.
