I have the second volume and it's pretty cool. KK Works 3 looks neat and glossy but the first volume has more material, it seems. So, I'm sort of stuck. Though I'm going to get both eventually, what does public opinion say around here?

I have them both and if you can afford both from say amazon.co.jp then get both you should save a bit on shipping if you get them both at once.  If you can't afford that, then it's a matter of do you like the newer designs or the older ones more?  If you like the newer style then go with III.

Your paying your shipping in marked up prices.  It's about $10 bucks more on YesAsia, still $10 on shipping for a fairly large book isn't that bad.
