One of my friends will go to the Anime EXPO and I already sent him a mail, telling him about the Megaten "Behind the Scenes", I hope he can go  :o

Ahh that sucks, I would love to go.  Anime Expo is having some cool stuff this year but I don't go that far for cons.

Aw crap, this looks so awesome, too bad they didn't come to Anime North ;>> (I'm rooted in Canada, lol). Who are the voice actors that are gonna be there? I can't recognize names, only who they've voiced ^^; Hope someone sneaks a camera in or something, I wanna watch/read about this, even if it's a crappy cell phone quality video on youtube XD

It's always cool when expos do stuff like this. Too bad they're always in California.

Yuri Lowenthal did Ryoji, Pharos and the main character in Persona 3, and Serph in Digital Devil Saga 1&2.

As for Karen Strassman, the only Megaten roles I know she did were as Chidori and as Aegis in Persona 3.

Ooh, just finished watching it :3 Interesting stuff, but too much focus on persona imo, maybe I'm just biased though :P No in-character voicing though, that was kinda lame, (I remember serph's voice in dds2 was frigging freaky/creepy o.O Or maybe it's just me.) I guess it's worth the listen, not much to see visually since the camera is always facing the people and not the projection screen except when they showed the p4 trailer.
(There should have been more focus on, you know, SMT, not persona; even demikids would've been more relevant :P)

Really cool but like Jessicat said, unfortunately the camera didn't point at the cool thinks, I imagine, they show on the screen.

I haven't finish watching it, but does they say what's the present they give to the people? Does anybody knows?

Promo t-shirts for p4 (and a pen, lol); I think i saw one on e-bay, it's nothing too exciting, and it's bright yellow o.O If it had been a demi-fiend-striped shirt I'd have dashed out to buy one (or two :P)

Shoulda went with this t-shirt design instead. It's something that could actually be worn, in, y'know, public.

:( To bad, I was expections something more "exclusive" like a Jack Frost doll or something like that, but I guess that's asking to much for a gift  :D

I'm kind of glad they didn't give out anything cool, I had a chance to go to this but I was already busy with other stuff that day...

Also people ask the most stupid questions ugh

I wish I could've gone. However, living here doesn't warrant easy ways to go to California.
Still, nice to know about it.

What surprised me in watching the panel is how clueless Atlus US seemed to be... they view themselves much more as sales than production, the translation is something they do with attention to detail but without understanding much of the "winder pictures" or motivations behind the series, or caring much about the continuity or availability of parts of the story (e.g. Innocent Sin).

Well, I guess it's similar to Commodore back in the day.... must be something with having blue and red in your logo.

Maybe because they are sales? ATLUS US just grabs all the retarded/niche stuff they think will be the next Disgaea or SMT, and pops it out. Continuity be damned, because there's a metric fuck ton of that stuff out there, and if they miss one release, they'll have 2 others in its place.

And that is always something to look forward to

Uhhh... I'm fairly certain that Atlus didn't try releasing Innocent Sin because they were already burned by Sony after translating Soul Hackers. So that's a dumb comment.

Also, ignorance of the wider motivations behind SMT is a good thing.

Who's post are you responding to? Also, I heard Columbine was the issue.

That too. And granitor. My bad. Thought it was clear from context.

Yeah, I was being naive. Just because I would want to have pride in my work and know something about it, doesn't mean that successful companies won't just focus on sales and be ignorant of everything else. To be fair, though, they were very proud of the "research" they did into translating the names "correctly" for, say, SMT P3... although according to a chick in the audience, they got Aeigis wrong, and my point is, it's pedantic details, not very creative work. Or maybe I had no point. I'm not sure anymore.

Also, Atlus has since converted the video from the talk to a 7-part series and put it on their YouTube channel thingy, here's a link to the playlist: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=03B9D7DB664178E8
