Favorite books?
06/13/08 at 21:16:34

so...what stuff do you guys like to read? Some of my favorite writers are Philip K Dick, Frank Herbert, Jung, Nietzsche. Recently have been reading "existential" lit like camus, kafka, dostoevsky, and hesse(took an existentialism class last semester). I like comics alot too (western and eastern), breezed through the entirety of Transmetropolitain and Battle Angel Alita last month. I <3 Cyberpunk and steampunk...

Lately I've been wanting to read more H.H. Munro... which is weird, but I randomly read his short story "Sredni Vashtar" and was enamored.  In a lot of ways, he's juvenile, but at the same time charming in his own twisted way.  I don't buy the fact that he was misogynistic or antisemitic at least anymore than any of his contemporaries either.

Now reading Douglas Adams, and he`s good!

I favor all Pelevin`s books... Sterling`s "Crystal Express" - now translating his "Spook" from it; amazed by Nabokov`s "Invitation To Punishment"... my lazyness just cannot allow the complete list of favorite books so i`ll stop here ))

I liked Romance of the Three Kingdoms... oh, and when I was younger, Animals of Farthing Wood. Yay for childhood memories! I'd never read it again though. It's something I know is prolly far better as a memory than in reality. =P

Ann Rule writes good books, and I'm really liking "Bestial" by Harold Schecter.

I am a big fan of David Eddings (sp?) books with Sparhawk.  Great sense of humor, and just generally fun reads.  I am also a fan and get almost every book put out by Peter David.

"One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Marquez. One of the few books I really liked.
"The clan of the cave bear" (AYLA STRONG)  Smiley
"Wir die Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo" wasn't bad either...

The name of the rose is sooo tedious, but i have a saying about books and booze-like it or not, you finish it.
I hear the Connery movie is pretty decent though.

You're right. I didn't read the book, but the movie was very good.
